Eugene (Billy) Zupko, age 84, of Easton, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 14, 2009, at the age of 84. He was born on December 13, 1924, in Easton, to the late John and Anna (Schneidmiller) Zupko. Eugene was a graduate of Our Lady of Sorrows School, class of 1942. He attended Lehigh Carbon Institute in Allentown and was a member of St. Mary's Star of the Sea Parish. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, croquet and traveling. He was also a long-time member of the VFW Post 2983 of Easton. He is survived by a son, Mark (Pamela) Zupko and his wife, Janet of Middletown, CT, one daughter, Patrice and her husband, Mark, one son, James and his wife, Carole of New Britain, CT, three grandchildren, James Jr., Tiffany and Zachary, and one great-grandchild, Olivia, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Eugene (Gene) and his wife, Sue, and one grandson, Jonathan Zupko. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 16, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Easton. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends will be received from 8-9:45 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2009, at the church. Front St., Easton. www.mattaboysfuneralhome.com. James Kuhns, age 83, of Easton, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2009, at the Saint Francis Hospital, Ewing. He was born in Easton on April 12, 1926, a son of the late James and Mary Jane (Molitor) Kuhns. James graduated from the Easton Area High School in 1944 and was the manager of Zapp and Sons Tire Shop for 21 years. He also worked as a bartender at The Barge Inn. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Easton. He loved to garden, and he was also a member of St. Mary's Star of the Sea Parish in Phillipsburg. He enjoyed golfing at the Lehigh County Country Club and bowling. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, World War II, serving with the 101st Airborne Division. He is survived by two daughters, Barbara of Phillipsburg, Ruth of Ewing; four grandchildren, Michael (Bridget), Lori (Thomas), Michael (Michelle), Jennifer; and four great-grandchildren, Kailyn, Tyler and Taryn, and Michael. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary; one sister, Kathleen Kuhns; one brother, James Kuhns, Jr.; and one grandchild, Ryan Kuhns. A vigil will be held on Monday, November 16, 2009, at 8:30 p.m. in Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Easton. Joanne Moser, age 86, of Easton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 31, 2010. She was born in Baden, Germany, on October 16, 1924, to the late Gustav and Rosa (Bohm) Moser. She was a graduate of the Baden Secondary School in Baden and was a skilled seamstress and housekeeper. She was a long-time member of St. Joseph's Parish in North Wales. She loved to sing, cook, garden and travel. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Emil V. Huth. Surviving are her three sons: George L. Huth, Jr., Richard R. Huth and Richard P. Huth; three sisters, Elizabeth Kaufmann, Ruth T. Kaufmann and Rose S. Heimers; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 5, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph's Church, North Wales, with the Rev. Edward Fries officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Michael William McAllister Jr., age 90, of Pen Argyl passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010, in the company of his family. He was the husband of the late Helen I. (Weigle) McAllister who passed away in July of 2009. Mr. McAllister was born in Pen Argyl, son of the late Michael and Sarah (Stewart) McAllister. He is the proud father of Diane (David) McAllister and her husband Joe of Pen Argyl; Michael C. (Cathy) McAllister and her husband Joseph of Kintnersville, PA; and Susan (Ted) O'Hara and her husband Richard of Palmerton. He is also survived by four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph and Michael; and his wife, Helen. Mr. McAllister had lived in the area for the past 40 years, was a veteran of World War II, and was retired from the Reading Company where he worked as a warehouseman and truck driver. A member of Pen Argyl United Methodist Church where he was also a part of the Men's Guild, he enjoyed bowling, baseball, fishing and especially gardening. He loved the outdoors, could often be found on the farm and was a great cook. He was an avid bowler and bowling league member. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2010, at the Pen Argyl United Methodist Church with Pastor William J. Beeghly officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Holgate.
