The song was part of a series of tracks that Finn had written for the New Zealand film The Navigator: A Medieval Odyssey. He released another single, "Out My Mind, Just Out My Mind", in November that year and in December he released his debut album "Walking My Baby Back Home". The album's third single, "The Clincher" was released in March 1995. It reached No.2 in Australia and No.33 in the UK. The song "I'd Never Do It to You" and its corresponding album were included in Robert Christgau's list of the year's best albums.
