Notice is hereby given that effective March 1, 2015, Louisiana Constitution, Article I, § 20 was amended to read as follows: Every person charged with a crime shall be innocent until proven guilty, and, if found guilty, shall be sentenced as provided by law. No law shall subject any person to life imprisonment or impose a mandatory death sentence upon any defendant convicted of first or second degree murder. No person shall be eligible for parole, or probation, or receive any deduction from sentence for good conduct, until such person has served at least fifty years of the sentence imposed, except that any person who has been convicted of a violation of the Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substances Law that is a crime of violence shall not be eligible for parole, probation, or any other form of early release. S. 13:1357 – Suspension of driving privilege The following shall result in the suspension of the driving privilege of the person against whom the offense is being enforced: (1) A fourth or subsequent conviction within a ten-year period of any offense listed in Section 1314 (d), Title 32 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes; (2) A second or subsequent conviction within a ten-year period of any offense listed in Section 1315 (c), Title 32 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes; (3) A second or subsequent conviction within a ten-year period of any offense listed in Section 1315.1 (c), Title 32 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes; or (4) A conviction for felony hit and run driving.
