He has worked hard to hone his martial arts skills and continues to set higher goals in hopes to one day compete at the Olympics and win a gold medal. “Aaron and I were always watching Johnnie train and when I found out that he had become an instructor here at Lamp Lighter, I was immediately excited. We wanted to find a way that he could continue to develop and grow, and we are very proud to announce that Johnnie has joined Lamp Lighter as an instructor.” said Brian Kaufman, Executive Director of Lamp Lighter. “His passion for martial arts and love for learning will be a great asset to our program. Lamp Lighter is a non-profit organization that focuses on self defense and character development in urban youth. Instructors teach students techniques of martial arts, and self defense techniques. Classes are offered to kids between 5th to 8th grade and the curriculum is planned for students to develop skills through a self-defense program that focuses on real-life, real-world techniques. The program covers character development, life skills, and academic achievement through martial arts. Classes take place at two sites in the Pawtucket and Cranston areas. The band's full length debut, The Great Departure, was released in September 2011 to over 1000 online reviews.
