Remote surveillance of the paranoid schizophrenic patient: a case report and review.
The current case report illustrates the use of a surveillance technique called computer-assisted remote monitoring for monitoring a paranoid schizophrenic patient's activities. Computer-assisted remote monitoring can be employed to augment home visits and facilitate treatment. Computer-assisted remote monitoring can provide an economical way to collect and analyze data from individuals who are difficult to see. Data collected from the remote monitor can be stored and reviewed when the psychiatrist is not able to assess patient's behavior. Finally, computer-assisted remote monitoring offers a method for more frequent and prolonged monitoring of patients with serious behavioral problems.
