The album was released on May 12, 1971, and featured the hit singles "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" and "It Don't Hurt Anymore". The latter of these two songs entered the Top 40 while the band were on tour in support of the album.
The album was certified Gold by the RIAA for sales of 1 million copies in 1971, in August 1972, it was certified Platinum. It has also been ranked as Rolling Stone's number 654 in its list of the "Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time".
