Nathan Fillion is an American actor. He is most widely known for portraying Captain Malcolm Reynolds in the TV series Firefly and its film sequel, Serenity. He has won the Canadian Comedy Award for Best Lead Actor in Television (for the series Castle) and was a co-recipient of the Saturn Award for Best Actor in a Television Series. Sara Rue is an actress and comedian. She has been known for playing Dr. Emma Coleman on the ABC/WB sitcom Scrubs (2001-2008), recurring as Deena Cortez's girlfriend on NBC's Heroes and appearing as Abby Donovan's mother on the TV series NCIS: Los Angeles. She has starred in films including Curb Your Enthusiasm, Step Brothers, and the sequel to Scrubs, and has played the lead in the short film Shine, nominated for the 2006 Independent Spirit John Cassavetes Award. Rue currently plays Amy, a lawyer, on the TNT television series Franklin & Bash. In 2018, he played the lead role in the off-Broadway musical A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder. Jocko A. Horse is a professional football player for the fictional San Angeles Chargers of the American Football Association. He was once a star quarterback with the Washington Redskins and still lives in Washington. He now runs a series of sports bars and brothels for his two wives. The character was named after Jock Mahoney. Jocko was portrayed by John Goodman in the Firefly episode "Shindig" (S03, E02). The character does not actually appear in that episode. Jack was the president of the New Organization that was created by the Alliance to fight the United Rebel Front. They defeated the U.R.F. Jack went back to his Alliance duties, but it is unknown if he became the president again. Jeffrey "Leroy" Riker (Riker) is an inmate on Bedlam, where he is under the care of Cyrus King. In prison, he has earned his rightful title of being the leader of the Aryans with his tough and aggressive demeanor. He and Nathan Book, an inmate who claims to be from the future, are locked in a death match for control of Bedlam. Leroy won the match, but Nathan was later returned to his own time. Although he was briefly defeated, Leroy did defeat one of the other major inmates, Mondo. Leroy is one of the only criminals to be seen smiling in the opening sequence of Season One. Leroy is referenced in the episode "Serenity", as he is watching the news in Jubal's infirmary. One of the news items is about the murder of a police officer in Florida who was suspected of being a dirty cop. The news story shows a picture of the murderer and it turns out to be Jeffrey Riker, indicating that he had already beaten them to the story. Jonathan R. Wardle is a writer for Buzzfeed and has contributed to the New York Times. He is the screenwriter of the film The Last Airbender, and has written for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Simpsons. Joss Whedon (Whedon) is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. His filmography includes Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and its spin-off series, Firefly, Dollhouse and The Avengers. Whedon has received recognition for his work on Buffy, including the 2003 Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, and was nominated for three Emmy Awards for his work on Buffy. In 2010, Whedon created the comic book series Astonishing X-Men.
