Bleacher Graduate Rodeo Studies Scholarship." The scholarship was established through a bequest from Jerry Bleacher, a graduate of the University of Kentucky, for undergraduate students who graduated from the University of Kentucky with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better, are a U.S. citizen and are returning to school for at least their second degree. The scholarship is funded by the Kentucky Rodeo Graduate Scholarship Fund and is awarded to students currently enrolled at the University of Kentucky's College of Agriculture. Foster-Towner Scholarships The Foster-Towner Scholarship is funded by the estate of Dr. J. Walter Foster, a Kentucky State Representative, and is awarded to Kentucky residents who are graduating seniors at accredited colleges or universities. Recipients are selected based on academic merit and financial need. The scholarship may be used at any two-year or four-year accredited college or university in Kentucky. A two-year college must be located in one of the 67 Kentucky counties, and an out-of-state college or university must be located within one of the four-year colleges or universities awarded by the Thomas Jefferson Foundation in Kentucky. H. C. "Tad" Fentress Scholarship Fund This scholarship was established in 2003 by the heirs of Mr. H. C. "Tad" Fentress, and was created to give students an opportunity to attain a greater degree of education than he was afforded. The award is renewable annually for the duration of a student's college career. The award may be used at any college or university in Kentucky, or at any four-year institution of higher education in the United States or Canada. The recipient must be a Kentucky resident and a full-time student seeking a bachelor's degree. George W. Miller, Jr., Memorial Scholarship The George W. Miller, Jr., Memorial Scholarship was established in 1998 by Mrs. Miller to benefit undergraduate students at a Kentucky postsecondary educational institution. Lincoln A. Logan Scholarship Fund The Lincoln A. Logan Scholarship Fund was established by Mrs. Logan as a memorial to her late husband to support students attending Kentucky postsecondary educational institutions. M. L. Echols, Jr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Mr. M. L. Echols, Jr., a former Dean of Students and Faculty member at the University of Kentucky. The scholarship may be used at any two-year or four-year accredited college or university in Kentucky. Mack Brown Distinguished Service Scholarship Established in 1997 to recognize former University of Kentucky football head coach Mack Brown, this scholarship was established through the will of the late Mr. Brown's wife, Martha Ackland Brown, to provide assistance to students attending any college or university in Kentucky. Michael B. Weiner Scholarship Fund This scholarship was created in honor of Mr. Weiner by the family and friends of the late Mr. Weiner to provide financial assistance to a student pursuing a degree from any college or university in Kentucky. Sidney and Martha Weiner Scholarship Fund This scholarship was established through the will of Martha Weiner to provide assistance to students pursuing a degree from any college or university in Kentucky. Tyler Morgan Memorial Scholarship This scholarship was established in 1996 by Mrs. Robert R. Morgan to honor her son, Ty Mason Morgan, a former volunteer at the University of Kentucky who lost his life in an automobile accident in July 1995. Vanguard Rocketry Challenge (ROC) The University of Kentucky is pleased to offer the Vanguard Rocketry Challenge (ROC) grant. ROC is a national non-profit organization that promotes scientific excellence in undergraduate rocketry education and builds a network of student rocket teams across the United States. The objective of ROC is to provide scholarships to qualified undergraduate students from the U.S. to travel to the ROC conference at the US Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL. The University of Kentucky will provide each qualified individual with a $500 scholarship to help offset the costs of travel, lodging, and registration fees to ROC. Additionally, each individual will receive a $750 scholarship from the Kentucky Rocketry Association (KRA) to offset the costs of travel, lodging, and registration fees to ROC. Those individuals who qualify for both scholarships are allowed to apply for a total of $1,250 in scholarship funds toward ROC. Undergraduate students who attended a four-year college or university for at least one year and graduate students who attend a four-year college or university may apply for these scholarships. All students must attend the University of Kentucky for at least two years before being eligible to apply. Students who have applied for a scholarship and have been selected to attend ROC but are unable to attend due to an unexpected lack of funding will not be eligible to reapply for any additional awards. Applicants must be willing and able to sign the scholarship agreement and make all commitments associated with their participation in the conference. Failure to fulfill these requirements may result in the denial of any requested funds. Kentucky Outdoor Foundation (KOF) Each year the KOF invites the University of Kentucky to participate in its annual fishing derby. This event is designed to provide college students the opportunity to develop self-sufficiency through education, self-reliance, and leadership. Participants will receive a fishing pole, tackle, and license. The event will feature a team competition format with individual events for those who do not wish to be part of a team. The Kentucky Outdoor Foundation (KOF) is a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization created to provide the opportunity for college students to become more self-sufficient through education, self-reliance and leadership. Each year KOF sponsors a series of events including the annual Student Fishing Derby and Beekeeping Derby. Additionally, KOF has sponsored annual scholarships, fishing clinics, and other outdoor events including fishing seminars and other events in all areas of Kentucky. Marshall Center for Educational Advancement (MCEA) The University of Kentucky will award a $3,000 scholarship to an eligible student during each of the fall and spring semesters. Students who meet the requirements will be selected by an advisory committee comprised of deans, faculty, and students. Students must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA to be eligible. If a student loses academic credits, this requirement may be waived upon a satisfactory demonstration of academic responsibility and good character. Applicants may submit an essay of no more than 2,000 words that addresses the following question: Why do you need financial assistance? A scholarship awardee will receive a scholarship letter from the University in the mail announcing scholarship award and will also receive an official award letter that will be posted in the scholarship office located in the Student Services Center. National Collegiate Scholarship (NCS) University of Kentucky will award a National Collegiate Scholarship to an eligible student during each of the fall and spring semesters. Students who meet the requirements will be selected by a committee comprised of senior University officials, faculty, and representatives of the Kentuckians in the Professions and Education (KIP) Foundation. Students must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA to be eligible. Students may apply for a maximum of four scholarships. If a student loses academic credits, this requirement may be waived upon a satisfactory demonstration of academic responsibility and good character. Students who apply to the National Collegiate Scholarship Program may submit two essays totaling no more than 500 words explaining why they believe they are eligible for the National Collegiate Scholarship Program. No less than one third of the 2,500 word application should be devoted to answering this essay question. Students must also have at least a 3.0 GPA. Scholarship recipients will receive a letter announcing award from the University in the mail announcing scholarship award. Awards may be used at any accredited college or university in the United States, or at a technical school located in the United States or Canada. Students who apply to the National Collegiate Scholarship Program may submit two essays totaling no more than 500 words explaining why they believe they are eligible for the National Collegiate Scholarship Program. No less than one third of the 2,500 word application should be devoted to answering this essay question. Students must also have at least a 3.0 GPA. A student may apply to be a National Collegiate Scholar through the University of Kentucky. The applications are available from the University Scholarships office in the Student Services Center.
