Play to Win, the group of volunteers at Mira Mesa’s Tipping Point will be playing the “Winning the Bidder” game this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. You won’t have to answer a quiz for it — this game is all about team spirit! Make your favorite sandwich or chili, listen to some music and eat some snacks while winning some prizes for your club! If you’re looking for a way to kick off your summer more than 30 feet above the ground, then check out the Skywalk over the San Diego River. The Skywalk, near the San Diego Trolley station at 4th Avenue and Ash, is open through Sept. 30. The Skywalk stretches more than 40 feet above the San Diego River, with a glass floor and handrails. The cost is $2 for adults, $1 for seniors, $1.50 for children, and $5 for families. To get there, take the Trolley to 4th and Ash. Just off 4th Avenue, between the Trolley and the river, is a walkway that will take you to the Skywalk. You can also take the Riverwalk to 4th Avenue, and look for a set of stairs and walkway that leads you to the Skywalk. To learn more, visit their Facebook page. Mira Mesa’s Tipping Point and TREX are back again for a two-day garage sale, starting at 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, both days, at the parking lot of The Mesa Community Church, at 3760 Caminito Dr. More than 150 garage sales will be held at this venue this weekend, including many featuring food from across Southern California. In other words, even the food sellers are having garage sales! Tipping Point and TREX will be offering an ice cream cone to eat while visiting the fair. Bring your dog, your own ice cream cone or just park your vehicle and eat the ice cream at the event. There is no admission fee. The 4th of July can be a busy day for many, especially for those who celebrate it with the typical American family holiday — eating barbecue, grilling out and watching fireworks. So, why not get a jump on your 4th of July food shopping this weekend? Mira Mesa residents can find a wide variety of options at Saturday’s 11 a.m. TREX/Tipping Point garage sale at The Mesa Community Church, 3760 Caminito Dr., right by the Otay River bridge. The best part? Everything you buy at these garage sales will help to support Mira Mesa’s seniors. They start at 8 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday, both days. Food from several barbecue restaurants and other food vendors will be available for purchase, as will other items at garage sales at The Mesa Community Church (3760 Caminito Dr.) and the Carmel High School (4800 Carmel Valley Rd.) If you’re looking for the perfect gift, visit “Kolache Korner” in the San Diego Trolley station, at 4th Avenue and Ash, on Saturday, July 4th. Kolache Korner will be open through Sept. 30. This Kolache Kiosk has a wide variety of choices: classic ham and cheese, German beer cheese, and much more. All of the kolache are baked fresh and come in an 8-inch size. They are $3.50 each. The Kolache Kiosk is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., both days, seven days a week. On Saturday, July 4, the San Diego Trolley Station at 4th Avenue and Ash will be decorated for the July 4th weekend, with patriotic elements. On Sunday, July 5, at the same time, a patriotic celebration will be going on at the 4th Avenue Trolley Station, also at 4th and Ash. Bands from the local San Diego bands will be playing at the 4th Avenue Trolley Station. There will also be an evening of fireworks at the 4th and Ash Trolley Station. Be sure to stop by this weekend, but call ahead, as schedules may change from day to day. The trolley runs both Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., both days. Summer is here, and at Mira Mesa Park, the Sunsplash event will be on Saturday, July 4, for the first time. This event is free to attend, but you do have to pay to park in the parking lots near the trolley station at Camino de la Plaza. A shuttle service will be offered from Mira Mesa Park to the event, with departure every 20 minutes. Once in Sunsplash, you can enjoy food trucks, drinks, and entertainment from several bands. Be sure to get your tickets early, as this event tends to sell out fast, as do all of Sunsplash’s events. You can find the best deals in Mira Mesa this weekend, on Saturday, June 30 and Sunday, July 1, in the parking lot of The Mesa Community Church (3760 Caminito Dr.) in the Tipping Point, and TREX garage sale. Everything in these garage sales is priced at just $1 each. You will find yard sale items galore, games for the kids to play, used furniture, toys and clothes. And if you don’t like the items, just move them along. There are no sales tax, so you can find that perfect item without breaking the bank! And once you purchase something at one of these garage sales, Mira Mesa residents will get a donation made to them, courtesy of those selling their items. From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, these garage sales will take place. The kids in Mira Mesa can have the best time of their summer, and earn some cash, at the Fourth of July Trolley Ride and Car Show. The trolley car show is coming up on July 4, and this is the first ever trolley car show in San Diego, so everyone will be there, and their cars will be seen. The event is being organized by Rider-Ridergirls/Friends of the Trolley, a group of ladies who love to ride the trolley, and would like to see the trolley remain in business for the many people who love riding it. This event, which is set for Saturday, July 4, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the trolley station at 4th Avenue and Ash, will be open to the public to see all sorts of cars that people are bringing to the event. Tickets can be bought in advance at the Visitor Center. There are no other ticket options. Cost is $10. This ticket gets you entrance, plus food, and a ticket to ride the trolley around Mira Mesa. And you’ll get to be part of the fun, too — see the trolley, and take photos with it! Bring your cameras! It’s a fun day for everyone! At Tipping Point, the TREX garage sale will be on Saturday, June 30, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., right by the Tipping Point, at The Mesa Community Church, 3760 Caminito Dr., the main parking lot. Items will be available for $1 each. This is the first time that this event has been held there. There will also be a trolley event happening at the same time, on the 4th Avenue trolley station, which is known as the San Diego Trolley Riders and Friends of the Trolley. The event is organized to celebrate all of the great things in the community, and to have a good time while doing so. And it is not just the trolley riders that are having their party — from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the community as a whole will be able to get a good laugh and take photos of each other at this family-friendly event. The Tipping Point garage sale in Mira Mesa will be starting, on Saturday, June 30, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the parking lot of The Mesa Community Church, 3760 Caminito Dr., behind the Mira Mesa Library.
