Now’s the Time to Start Scheming for the 2014 Tournament It’s that time again. Each January our organization hosts the biggest recruiting event for college tennis in the Midwest. At the end of the season, our Board of Directors will deliberate over the roster for the spring and summer tournaments, as well as decide the format for the annual team championship. We’ve learned that our community enjoys the opportunity to participate in the decision-making process of putting on the event. Here’s a sneak peek at the 2014 Tournament schedule: – Sat. This year’s gala event is planned for Wednesday, May 8th at Galena Country Club and will benefit Galena Country Club. The gala event will be for Galena Tennis Tournament participants and fans. Galena Tennis Tournament Director Tom Leathers announced the annual Gala was planned as a tribute to all who donate to the gala – the tennis team, coaches, volunteers, members and friends. The theme of this year’s gala is “A Perfect Storm”. “A Perfect Storm” is a documentary about the Galena-Dixon tornado that hit our area on May 4, 2008. Proceeds from the gala event will benefit the Galena Tennis Tournament and the Galena Tennis Foundation. Tickets to attend the gala will go on sale March 1, 2013 at www.galenaTennis.com. Cost for tickets is $50 per person and can be purchased by calling Galena Tennis Tournament director Tom Leathers at 731-384-3935.
