Don't You Work for Me? Cody and the Boy are going to the town and see the townspeople - and not in a good way. They get on the bus, and everyone starts talking to them. Finally, Cody comes up to the bus driver and gets the scoop. He also finds out that there is a festival going on in their town. They both decide to go see what it's like. Finally, they get there and are surprised with the party they have been expecting. Then, Cody is told that he can't stay in town for long. He has to leave for the next place after that. He tells the boy goodbye and heads off for the next place. Cody starts walking, and the boy follows him for a while. Then, he starts to do something different. He starts to run away from Cody and runs off into the dark forest. Now it's Cody's turn to run after him. He is alone in the dark and can't see anything around him. At this moment, Cody has a realization. The realization is that when you are scared of something, you can't see it, and it will creep up on you and make you afraid. Cody realizes he has to be brave enough to face this fear and conquer it. Cody does that by taking it head on and not running from his fear anymore. Now, he is in control of his fear and not it. Symbolism "The Boy and the Dragon" focuses on the meaning of fear. Every time that Cody walks down the hill, he is afraid. The dragon represents that fear, and everyone that says hi to him seems to take away his fear of it. He doesn't run anymore, because he has learned not to be afraid of it. "The Boy and the Dragon" also shows how when you have a fear, you can either let it make you run and run from it or face it and conquer it. In the end, Cody conquers his fear and the people that try to stop him by being brave. He also conquers his fear of the dragon and what it has to say to him. By conquering his fear, he conquers his whole life and makes it better. "The Boy and the Dragon" also demonstrates that when you are confronted with a task or fear, there are two ways you can respond. You can be brave or you can be afraid. The choice is up to you. Sometimes, we are afraid of the situations that come our way. That fear is normal. You should be ready to face these fears or challenges that come up in your life. Implication If you are ever faced with a situation or obstacle that you can't face, this story can help you through it. If you face these obstacles and challenges, then you can conquer anything that comes your way. You can conquer these challenges because that is what Cody did. There are many challenges in life that we face. There are some that seem big. This story shows how you should face them and realize that they aren't big enough to stop you. You should face your fears head on and not let them stop you from doing the things you want to do. The ending of the story shows the importance of not letting your fear get the best of you. If you don't control your fear, it will control you. You have to face your fear and conquer it if you want to make the changes in your life. Just remember, fear is your enemy.
