Bette and Bette—the story of the famous Hollywood rivalry between the film divas Bette Davis (of _Jezebel, Now, Voyager_ , and _All About Eve_ fame) and Joan Crawford (of _Daisy Kenyon_ and _Grand Hotel_ fame). Bridget Jones's Diary—a charming novel by Helen Fielding about Bridget Jones (Bridget Jones, of course), the most attractive woman in England. This was inspired by _The Wonder Years_ , a television show that was broadcast on BBC. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid—the story of two outlaws in the American West. Butch and Sundance stole from banks but did not want to become heroes. They were caught and executed. Christine—an adaptation of the novel by Stephen King about a disturbed teenage girl who is obsessed with the idea of becoming a famous actress. Citizen Kane—the story of a newspaper mogul in the United States during the early twentieth century who was obsessed with attaining fame. Cruel Intentions—this is the story of a girl who is forced to choose between her two beloved friends in order to save them both from expulsion. Dangerous Minds—based on the book by Dr. Margaret Thaler Singer, it is the story of a psychologist in the 1970s who decides to study the minds of teenagers who do crimes in order to find the root of their delinquency. Don Juan—a story inspired by _The Scarlet Letter_ , it is about a seventeenth-century Spanish poet who falls in love with a woman but is forced to live a hidden life. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde—a story inspired by the movie of the same name, it is about a man who is not as nice as he looks. He turns into a monster with a split personality and falls in love with a young woman. Ethan Frome—a story about a man named Ethan who visits a farming village in Massachusetts. He falls in love with the village beauty and soon falls deeply in love with her, but is soon separated from her. He then tries to forget her and his love. Evelyn—this is a story based on the novel _The Virginian_ by Owen Wister, which tells the story of a cowboy in the American West who falls in love with a woman he is forbidden to marry. Fahrenheit 451—this is the story of a man who is concerned that all books are banned and of a woman who falls in love with a man who is a fireman. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas—this is the story of three young men on a trip to Las Vegas who engage in a series of misadventures. Freak—this is a story about a man who is obsessed with looking for another human being with an incredibly rare genetic disease. Hamlet—the story of a young man in the royal court of Denmark who is compelled to question his religion, his society, and the rules of his family. The Handmaid's Tale—a story about a woman in a society that bans all birth control. After giving birth, she starts to question whether her life is really worth living. Hannah and her Sisters—a story about a young woman who moves to New York City after graduating from college, and who lives a life of luxury and freedom. I Am Charlotte Simmons—the story of a rich, young, beautiful woman who has been blessed with everything she wants, except for one thing—she is forbidden to speak with her family and have a normal life. The Insider—a story about a CIA agent in the 1970s who is forced to become a mole in the organization in order to save his country. Little Women—a story about the women of a family who find love and romance in their lives. Looking for Alaska—the story of a girl who learns the truth about her life in order to write an essay for school. Love Story—a story about a man in the 1970s who is in love with his college sweetheart but is forced to marry another woman. Madame Bovary—this is the story of a woman who has a life of luxury and pleasure but is always longing for love. The Magic Mountain—the story of a young man who returns to his hometown and discovers that the world is not as happy as he had thought. Mary Shelley's Frankenstein—this is a story of a scientist who creates life but is unable to find happiness. A Midsummer Night's Dream—a story about a man who discovers that he has been cursed by a fairy and that his life has become meaningless. Mrs. Dalloway—a story of an aristocratic woman who falls in love with a boy named Peter but is forced to leave them in order to save herself. The Mysterious Island—a story about a couple who go on a ship and end up on an island. National Velvet—a story about a girl who falls in love with her horse. Ninotchka—a story about a Russian actress who is traveling with a man. Notting Hill—the story of a couple who falls in love with each other but are forced to live two separate lives due to their cultural differences. Pride and Prejudice—a story of a woman who is in love with a man and follows him all over England while his family tries to stop the relationship. The Prince and the Pauper—a story of a young prince who is able to pass as an English boy in order to escape his enemy. The Princess Bride—a story of a little girl who is married to the prince who has kidnapped her. She meets the man who married her in order to save her. The Road to Wellville—a story of a doctor who becomes obsessed with his patients and what causes them to get sick. Roman Holiday—the story of a famous and popular actress who is forced to live her life like a normal woman. Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants—a story of a group of friends who fall in love with each other. Star Wars—a story about a man who falls in love with a princess and must choose whether to save his life or save his love. Sundays at Tiffany's—a story about a boy who is in love with a beautiful woman but is forbidden to pursue her because he does not belong to the upper class. Sweet Home Alabama—a story about a girl who falls in love with a baseball player who is forced to choose between baseball and his love. Tender Is the Night—a story about a love affair between an author and an actress. Thelma and Louise—a story about two women who discover that they are being hunted by their husbands. A Time to Kill—a story about a poor man who discovers that his sister has been raped by a rich man who is given three days to get him to confess to the crime. Unforgiven—the story of a man who is forced to kill a man to save his younger brother and his best friend. The United States of America vs. John Walker Lindh—a story about a nineteen-year-old American boy who travels to Afghanistan with a young woman named Yvonne in order to become a freedom fighter. We Need to Talk About Kevin—a story about a young man who cannot talk about himself or his life. He is in the middle of a family war in which his mother has completely stopped living. He must find the right moment in order to kill her. Wicked—the story of a wicked woman who becomes a witch and helps people while trying to seduce a young man. _Women's Health_ magazine ( _W_ ) _The Women's Journal_ magazine ( _T_ ) _The Washington Post_ White, T. H. (1832–1916) _Stars Fell on Alabama_ ( _SFA_ )—a novel about the Civil War and Reconstruction. This was inspired by the book _Stars Fell on Alabama_ written by John Sparkman and published in 1992. _The WPA Guide to the Depression: Thirteen Upper Manhattan_ ( _WK_ )—it was a guidebook created during the Great Depression that was sponsored by the Works Progress Administration. The guide included over three hundred and twenty-eight pictures of jobs that were available during the depression. Zinn, Howard (1922–2003) _A People's History of the United States_ ( _A_ )—the book was written by Howard Zinn and was a collection of quotations that had been written by others that had shaped American history. This was also the only title in the book that was not created by an author or a subject. Zipless (www.zipless.com) _Zipless_ was a television program that ran from the year 1999 to 2004. The show told the story of a single mother named Amy whose life changes forever when she finds out that her husband has an affair.
