Bangladesh–Iran relations Bangladesh and Iran have had diplomatic relations since December 1979. Bangladesh has an embassy in Tehran. Iran has an embassy in Dhaka. Bangladesh has an embassy in Tehran and consulate general in Shiraz, Fars. Development assistance Iran gave a US$1.7 million grant to Bangladesh for constructing the road to border town Kuna from Rangamati. This project was financed by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). In September 2009, both countries signed an agreement to set up a trade and transit center at Maldakpur, in Bandarban District.
