Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal has a reputation for developing talent, having recruited many of the players who won a national title with the Ducks in 2015. That’s part of the reason why defensive end Austin Faoliu is choosing to stay with the Ducks for his final two years of eligibility, according to a source. Faoliu was planning to go to the NFL after his junior season in 2019. The 6-foot-4, 237-pound Faoliu played two seasons for Cristobal at Alabama as a defensive end and one as a defensive tackle before transferring back to Oregon. He recorded 26 sacks, 54 tackles and eight forced fumbles in four years with the Ducks, though he missed part of the 2018 season with an injury. Faoliu is expected to compete for a starting spot at right end and right defensive tackle this fall. -- Andrew Nemec anemec@oregonian.com @AndrewNemec
