Olive Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania Olive Township is a township in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , all of it land. Olive Township is bordered by Hopewell Township and the borough of Butler to the north, the borough of Chicora to the northeast, the borough of Pleasant Gap to the east, Fayette Township to the south, Butler Township to the west and Salem Township to the northwest. Demographics As of the census of 2010, there were 1,848 people, 672 households, and 511 families residing in the township. The population density was 83.3 people per square mile (32.1/km²). There were 698 housing units at an average density of 31.8/sq mi (12.1/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 90.5% White, 1.6% African American, 1.3% Asian, 0.3% from other races, and 5.2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.5% of the population. There were 672 households out of which 34.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.6% were married couples living together, 13.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.1% were non-families. 23.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.62 and the average family size was 3.09. In the township the population was spread out with 25.8% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 31.0% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 96.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.7 males. The median income for a household in the township was $39,821, and the median income for a family was $45,083. Males had a median income of $37,500 versus $25,417 for females. The per capita income for the township was $17,697. About 10.0% of families and 11.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 18.2% of those under age 18 and 6.3% of those age 65 or over.
